Last November, I shared the publication of the Hungarian edition of my book, Bíbor köd. I am delighted to announce that the English edition, When Music Broke Free: Blues & Rock History, 1965–1970, was published by United p.c. on October 22, 2026.
Across 800 pages, the book explores an extraordinary period in popular music: the years when the blues helped inspire an explosion of new sounds and ideas. From the British blues boom and psychedelia to the emergence of progressive rock and hard rock, it follows the artists, albums, songs, and performances that shaped the era, together with the historical and cultural changes surrounding them.
The book is the result of many years of listening, collecting, and research. Above all, it is a tribute to music that continues to move and inspire me.
As with the Hungarian edition, I dedicate this book to the memory of my father, Endre Groszmann, who introduced me to the beauty of this music and with whom I shared so many unforgettable listening experiences and concerts.
